Be zealous of the time God’s using
to pour valuable goods in you. When we
sleep, we’re on this “unconscious” state, because we are not in control, that’s
why when you’re asleep on a friend’s house you pass gas and later on all who
heard might tease you. At this time our
mind is available to Him whom we serve, is like being surrendered to HIM, because
we are not in control and we are totally at HIS mercy. That’s why is important to guard this time so
GOD can load our minds up with the things that maybe during the times we are
awake due to our busyness of that day we do not pay the needed attention, so
what a better time than when we are sleeping.
He will pour on us as hard or deep as need it, and because HIS Omnipotence
we will get it!
Seven things to help you sleep “tight”
and ready to receive HIM:
1.
My bedside
phone stays off.
Would you BELIEVE if
I tell you that if there’s an emergency that you REALLY need to be aware of, or
involved in, GOD can and will wake you up? Ask HIM to confirm this to you. Many times midnight calls if it’s not a wrong
number, are mere interruptions that could be talked at another time. Guard your sleeping time!
2. Cell phone
stays in the kitchen, NOT in my room.
Cell phones are great in case of an emergency, but
truly, if you do not want to turn your cell phone off for the night, DO NOT
bring it to the room! We all know that sometimes
when people can’t sleep go to the computer to read and answer messages; not to
mention the telemarketing companies which LOVE to send messages after midnight.
And any time you receive a message from any of these or from any of your social
networks you know an alarm will pop and will disturb your night.
3. Before
bedtime a shower is always good thing.
Every day we encounter many challenges, and a good shower can
cool your brain down or can warm up your soul, depending what you like and the season
of the year we are in. Also, “Shower Time” is a great time for a “deliverance”
prayer, you can pray for that water to shower off of you any impure thoughts or
feelings, if there’s hurt, you can ask God to touch you, and to let whatever is
causing that hurt inside of you to run down and to go down the drain. You can
do this for every part of your body, from head to toe! Try it! There’s nothing
impossible for my God!
4.
Limit
your room light.
I do not have a small lamp, and what I resolved to do, was
to get a channel station where there’s little move on it. I like the music channels (in jazz or any
soft music) usually the light in these channels is dimmed anyway its sound needs
to be very low or muted, is just for the light, so you do not break a leg
bumping onto any furniture you might have around.
5.
Avoid
electronics.
These can be big time distractions! A radio on a talking
station, when the Lord wakes you up to speak to you but when you open your eyes/ears
you suddenly hear a radio conversation of an incident in a place where you have
loved ones, you will become totally awake in a flash, an you will not realized
God wanted to tell you some things. If the radio is on any music that can take
you places and moments in your life that you shouldn’t be revisiting and
therefore keep you awake for the wrong reasons. A tablet or a laptop…. I have to keep mines
far from bed, because it’s a temptation to go play when I should be praying. Believe me, there’s time to play, and yes, bed
sometimes is a cozy place to just play for a bit, but NOT when it’s time to
pray or when in the middle of the night, because when GOD wakes you up at that
time, there’s something important, there’s a purpose for it, and the remedy for
it is to find out the reason, and pay attention to God’s message!
6.
Have
paper and pen available – always!
A journal, or a 99 cents notebook is great to write details
of things that come to mind, people God places on your mind to pray for,
sometimes HE will give you the reason and/or what to pray for; God can give you
ideas or things He wants you to do, or get involved into.
7.
Your Bible
is a MUST!
Why? Because He might wake you up with a Scripture in
mind. In the cases where HE gives you
details about things that you might not understand, you can ask Him for a
Scripture to support what HE’s trying to tell you. Sometimes we go to bed troubled for different
happenings of the day, and spending time reading the Word like the Psalm
107/108 which gives us assurance of God’s deliverance over our deep troubles,
or Psalm 119 that will lead us to meditate on the Excellencies of God’s Word, and
we’ll calm down as it soothes our spirit. I have to testify to you there’s been many
times, that after a time of weeping, and praying, hugging The Bible close to my
heart had given me the comfort and peace needed to fall asleep.
