Last week while the kids were in camp I spent most of my time studying and as they got back, I was excited to hear the awesome things the Lord had revealed to them there. See, as a teenager I would go to a "religious retreat" once so often, but it was no more than three days and although I liked it then, now I look back and I see how empty it was, no wonder none of us then campers weren't that excited!
The camps we've been sending our kids in the last twelve years, is another thing totally unknown to me until then; and my kids, and our church kids, THEY GET EXCITED about it!!! All year long they're making "plans for camp"; once camp comes and goes, they start making plans for next camp, I mean they love it! I praise God for this young leaders of the TN District, for not only they LOVE The Lord, but you can tell they've followed GOD's calling for their lives, they're anointed, and THEY LOVE what they do for The Lord!
Is one thing for a Minister to enjoy the time shared with other ministers and people who love God as much as you do as we get together on our District meetings, but is an even greater feeling when as a parent you know you are sending your kids to a summer camp with a purpose of more than just having tons of activities and that's it, because you know that God IS the Center, and the REAL REASON for the SEASON. Not only you'll recognize they will have a great summer activities experiences with their church family, but with church leaders who are your District family. There's comfort in knowing that your family in CHRIST is who will minister those kids in camp, and you know they will pour tons of encouragement and push your kids to reach new levels of communion with The Lord. Sometimes this is a challenging thing even in a ministers home, because by the kid's teenage stage sometime they've "heard the preacher who lives in their home "too much". Therefore the things received at camp stay as camp memories, and both parts benefit from it, parents and campers. Praise God for this great help HE had sent us as we raise our kids. Camp leaders are more than just volunteers, they are God's ministering angels sent to us and our kids to help us be equipped for Kingdome work.
I want to encourage, if you never have sent your kids to summer camp, pray and consider about the TN Assemblies of God camps, its a win-win choice, for you and for them; here is the linkm for the District Youth page, http://tymyouth.org.
Until next time....
May the Lord continue to bless you for His glory in Jesus name, Amen!
