Write The Word - 30 Day Family Challenge

Sometime ago, this Family Challenge came to my Facebook page, and I got excited because it came in a time where I was looking into ideas to spice up our morning devotional with my teenagers.  So I made plans to start around late November that way the challenge would be over in time for Christmas.  Since they are teenagers, when things are mixed up with money, they REALLY like to get involved in them, so... I decided to throw an additional blessing if they would jump into it.

We've been doing morning devotionals before they take the bus in the morning to go to school, right after breakfast, but when our devotional book ended (changes every three months) and its replacement hadn't come in yet, I decided to take it as the perfect time to start this NEW Devotional.  I also offered to them the as an opportunity to earn a reward, at the end of the thirty day period I would pay them a dollar per written Scripture; in other words IF they wake up on time everyday to make it to Devotional time, each of them should end up with $30 extra dollars, and on time for Christmas, what a great deal!!!

We've been doing it for about two weeks now, and so far they both missed one day each. I have an index card box to keep new and used Scripture Cards together with several pens.  Every morning as we open the day in prayer, we share the breakfast, and afterwards, we work together on our
Devotional time.  I read the Scripture for the day once, then slowly emphasize on the focus points of it, and because I'm dictating it to them I have used it as a chance to correct common spelling mistakes including writing the name of the Lord in small letters. I found it fascinating because at the end of this thirty days, they each will have their own personal set of Praying Scriptures Cards, created by them and will serve not only as a help in their daily prayer time but as a keepsake of a great tool for their future families.

I believe this is a GREAT tool, it's not the same to read a Scripture that you might see in a piece of paper, because when you write it, it stays longer; and since I'm the one dictating it, they have to actually think of what they're writing, and correcting any mistakes is like drilling that word that's being corrected, several times. I think is great! Not to mention that in my morning prayer before actually writing the Scriptures, I pray for the Lord to make it a permanent memorial in their hearts, and for the chance to share that particular Scripture with someone in school that day.

Here I'm including a picture of our Devo "tools" and the link for the challenge page.

I praise God for whoever sent this to me and for anyone who had to do with the challenge posting itself; I pray The Lord bless them as we continue to impart life on those GOD has chosen for us to minister to.  I also pray for you that's reading this blog to take the time to do this with your kids, it will bring ETERNAL rewards for them and a lot less headaches for us as parents, as we "nailed"/incorporate God's word in their daily routines. Do not forget to share with me about it when you do.

God bless you all, and ENJOY this new season of your life.
